Cincinnati-based Kroger operates grocery chains including its namesake store, Ralphs and Harris Teeter.
The companies currently employ more than 700,000 people all together.
The companies also plan to invest $1.3 billion to “enhance” the Albertsons customer experience.
But not all lawmakers and industry experts are convinced.
